Just remember they are casting a tv show... they don't want you (per se) they want characters.

They want the slut / the bitch / the cocky person / the nice one / the old one / the cheater /
Just think of all the personalities on every single reality show and dress for the character that best suits you. Business casual sounds boring (be careful with boring)

I will say this about your snakeskin idea... If you don't want to go all out in the snakeskin dress and stilettos and then have everyone else be super casual... you may not be the right type of person they want on these shows.

Because if one person comes in wearing snakeskin and stilettos and everyone else is super casual... who would they remember. Who would they want to watch... remember they want INTERESTING CHARACTERS.

adding this on... just wear the french maid outfit you're wearing in your picture, I'd remember that.

It's actually easier than you'd think. Start with the fact that a great deal of news happens on a regular schedule. The City Council meets on Monday. The local baseball team plays on certain days. The election will be on Nov. 6. A study on crime will be issued in two months. And so on.

There is also a public relations machine out there to alert the media when something happens. Company has record earnings? Gotta tell the business section. And so on.

So we start with that. Then, it's a matter of manpower. Just having a body at events often leads to news -- he or she will hear about something, ask some questions, and a story results. Tips do happen every once in a while, and readers come up with ideas that are useful, but mostly the reporters do the thinking for themselves.

They are contacted by the newsmakers, typically. They have well developed contacts w/ police, so they get reports from them on daily crime, they get in free to events and are actually envited to them by promoters who also advertise in the event ...
Of course they have people listening to scanners and such for instant crime reporting, they go to city council meetings, grand openings ...
long story short, they are established within the community they serve and the community makes sure they know when things are going on so it can be covered in the news and they combine these daily occurances w/ reporters timely coverage of crime or reporting indepth on what has tipped them off.

Another one of my pet peeves! If the president dies or a war has been declared or there is a hurricane/tornado heading towards you. That's it. I hate when they spend 20 minutes of a tv show that is only shown once and finish their mini-newscast with "More tonight at 6". I don't think so, you spent more time on the interruption than you will on the news program tonight.
Usually it's a cat in a tree, an accident, a broken hydrant, etc.

I know what you mean.I miss the days when a 'Newsflash' made everyone stop what they were doing and your Mum would shout 'quick somethings happened!' and something genuinely newsworthy would be announced like a major disaster or the death of someone important. Now everything is breaking news and no one raises an eyebrow.Something humungous is going to happen and we'll all miss it!

They do it after the show and edit in post-production to make it look like they are interviewed on the spot.
